Raising a puppy is a mix of joy and challenges as you build a bond with your new best friend. As dog trainers our goal is to guide you through puppyhood while setting your puppy up for success, all the while creating a lasting communication system between you and your puppy.

At OverWatch K9 Academy we teach puppies using marker training and food luring, with a cue and a mark. Marker training creates engagement and builds a relationship, where your puppy will begin to seek out your attention. We teach a foundation of obedience through fun, similar to a child in kindergarten.

Puppies are little sponges! They are able to begin learning and shaping their behavior as early as 8 weeks of age. Our approach to training puppies can be summed up in the motto “work is play”!

Our puppy lessons clients are usually first time puppy owners who want a professional dog trainer to guide them along the journey of puppyhood. Our training begins at your home, in a safe environment free from external risks, getting an early start in shaping behaviors. After proper vaccines we venture out on field trips, exposing your puppy to varied environments, building their confidence, and instilling focus in the middle of distractions.

As your puppy gets bigger their energy level and curiosity increase rapidly – new behaviors develop almost weekly. Our lessons are structured to be every other week, allowing us to be with you and your puppy for 2 to 3 months, we are along for the journey every step of the way.

Puppy lessons will be completed when your puppy is around 5 months of age, just in time to begin more advanced obedience training. Whether you’d like to continue with Advanced Lessons or jump into our Advanced Obedience Board And Train, we have obedience training solutions to choose between.

We offer our lessons services in a more narrow area, including Columbus, Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, Gahanna, Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Hilliard, New Albany, Lancaster, Pataskala and surrounding areas.

Our puppy board and train program is designed for our clients with a busy schedule, who want a jump start for their puppy. Your puppy will live with one of our professional dog trainers in their private home for 10 days, and return home with a basic obedience foundation.

We offer a convenient door-to-door service , coming to your home for your puppy’s pick up and drop off. At your puppy’s return your trainer will spend 1 to 2 hours showing off your puppy’s obedience, running through the details of your puppy’s potty and crate training schedule that sets your puppy up for success, and letting you practice your puppy’s obedience.

Following puppy training, we provide advanced training options to elevate your communication with your puppy to a higher level. Most of our puppy board and train clients continue their puppy’s training with our Advanced Obedience Board And Train Program. Our clients that reserve their puppy’s Advanced Obedience Board And Train in advanced receive free support from their trainer in between board and trains, including coming out to your home for assistance.

Clients that are familiar with teaching their puppy the basics and have the time to do so tend to reserve our Advanced Obedience Board And Train Program in advance. If this route sounds right for you, your trainer will come to your home shortly after your reservation is made, for a free set up for success session.

The minimum age to begin our Advanced Obedience Board And Train is five months of age. Please call us for reservations in advance of your dog being five months old.
